We live in chaotic times, without any belief in order. People feel overwhelmed with the conviction that everything depends on blind chance and coincidence. Arrangement, order and destiny is what we truly miss.

Our conference aims to answer the question - how to conduct the belief of destiny and contingency in our lives. We would like to probe the relation between coincidence and predestination. In the first place, however, we want to investigate coincidence and destiny in our daily life: from social, cultural, political, economic, artistic points of view and many more.

The conference is intended as an interdisciplinary event. Hence, we invite researchers representing various academic disciplines: anthropology, history, sociology, philosophy, psychology, psychoanalysis, history and theory of art, literary studies, theatre studies, film studies, memory studies, consciousness studies, dream studies, gender studies, postcolonial studies, psychiatry, social policy, engineering and computer sciences, business, cognitive sciences et al.

We will be happy to hear from both experienced scholars and young academics at the start of their careers, as well as graduate students. We also invite all persons interested in participating in the conference as listeners, without giving a presentation. We hope that due to its interdisciplinary nature, the conference will bring many interesting observations  and discussions about the role of destiny, coincidence and contingency in the past and in the present-day world.
